Prevent Cigar Mold

This is one of the most common complaints we hear about humidors.  I recently read this very informative article that I think will be a tremendous help to you in preventing any mold from beginning in your humidor.

First of all, you should know that a humidor that works properly should not create conditions for mold. If yours is molding, there is a problem. However, that problem can be fixed. The first thing that you should do is check to make sure that the humidification element is working. If it is not, you will need to get it replaced.

If you find that your humidor has developed some mold, all is not necessarily lost. Here is their recommendation:

Remove all of the cigars and dispose of the ones that have been contaminated. Next, wipe down the inside with alcohol to kill the mold so that it will not grow back. When you are ready to repack your cigars, make sure that you provide enough space to allow for airflow. If you have too many cigars for this to be possible, then you should start shopping around for larger humidors.

If you have a good humidor and the right tools, hopefully you will never run into this blight on pleasurable smoking.
